It is with great sadness that on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the age of 88 years, Norman Lewis Simms of Corner Brook passed away. Norman will be sadly missed by his sons: Peter Simms (Joanne); Todd Simms (Sandi) and his Grandchildren; Tori Simms, Jesse Simms and Bailey Simms. Norman is survived by his sister Dorothy Michelin of Labrador along with numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. He is predeceased by his Wife; Lillian M. Simms (October 17, 1996). Also his Parents; John James Simms and Bertha Simms of St Anthony and his brothers; George, Robert, Frank, Reginald, Raymond, and his sisters; Jessie, Margaret, Jean, Catherine. We want to thank the staff at the Lohnes Complex for taking such good care of our Dad in the last few years. They made him laugh and smile and he also helped to entertain them on a daily basis. I'm sure they must have got tired of fixing his hearings aids and remote control. And thanks to those who provided him with that special piece of dessert at lunch time that he would always talk about to us on the phone. We also want to say special thanks to Gary Fisher and his wife Elizabeth along with their two girls Sabrina and Katie. They were like family to father and he looked forward to their regular visits and also the countless rides around town. Dad had many conversations with Gary and we are sure father enjoyed all the time they spent together. There is no way we can possibly thank them enough for all they have done to help Dad. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday, January 31 from the hours of 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Rev. Tanya White officiating.
