Obituary of Phoebe Eileen Maynard

Phoebe Eileen Maynard (Fowlow)

December 9, 1938 - March 9, 2019

Phoebe was born to Peter and Mary Ellen Fowlow on  December 9, 1938 in Port Rexton, NL.

She began teaching at the age of 16 and by 17 she moved to Norris Point for a teaching position. It was there she met the love of her life Clyde Maynard. They married two years later on August 27, 1958 and together they made a family and raised five children.

After many moves and friendships made around the Island, they settled in Hawkes Bay in 1977. Soon after, they started the family business which has grown over the years and has evolved in to more than a take-out for our family; it is a hub of the community, a gathering place and often the first stop for people returning home.

As a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Aunt; there was nothing Phoebe would not do for her family. She relished every moment spent with family and friends.

Whether it was activities with her ACW ladies, playing Rummoli, road trips or going on sewing retreats with friends, she always enjoyed life to the fullest.

Phoebe lived a good and full life right to the end and departed in the same manner in which she had lived; peacefully, without worry and surrounded by the love of her many family and friends.

Forever remembered by her children: Myra (Barry), Keith (Rhoda), Diane (Elijah), Kevin (Edna) and Rhonda (Mike).  Grandchildren: Jason (Deanne), Rebecca (Preston), Christopher (Jennifer), Jonathan (Millicent), Ann, Stacey (Brandan), Kelsey and Kolby. Great Grandchildren: Drew, Devin, Alex, Jacob, Abby, Mackenzie, Lily and Kaya.

Predeceased by husband Clyde, parents Peter and Mary Ellen, Granddaughter Mary, father and mother in-law Ed and Mary Maynard.

She will be resting at Holy Innocents Anglican Church in Hawkes Bay.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9.  Funeral service will take place on Wednesday March 13 at 2:00.
