Passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders, Melvin B. Eastman at the age of 70 years. Melvin Bernard Eastman was born on March 18, 1949 in Reef's Harbour to John and Maud Eastman. He was the third of four children. He worked in carpentry for 25 years and at the age of 49 he became disabled. He battled his illness for the next 21 year and lost his battle at 70 years old. He met Gertrude Lavers in 1971 and they were married on July 20, 1973. They had three children, Trent, Jarvis and Justin. He also cherished the time he spent with his 2 beautiful nieces, Millicent and Gale. He loved spending time with his little buddy Joey Bromley. During his working years he met his life long friend, Frank Fudge. He cherished thier phone calls for the past 30 years and he was like a kid at christmas when Frank and his wife Josie came for a visit. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his wife Gertrude, of 46 years; children: Jarvis and Justin (Kyla); special nieces Millicent (Glenn) Brake and Gale (Sterling) Eastman; sister Cynthia Eastman; special buddy Joey Bromley; grandchildren: Evan, Jade, Ethan and Jewel; special nieces and nephews: Gregory Brake (Willow and William), Hayley Brake and Quinn Snook; brothers-in-law: Ben (Audrey) Lavers, Vincent (Olive) Genneaux, Frank (Eileen) Genneaux, Norbert (Lauren) Genneaux; sisters-in-law Julia Kennedy and Veronica Lockemer; as well by many other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his son Trent; parents John and Maud Eastman; sisters-in-law : Susan Genneaux, Theresa Lavers, Rose Easton, Irene Lavers, Angela Clark, Maud Mitchell, Amy Chapella, Mary McCarthy and Agnes Gaslard; brothers Llewelyn and George Eastman, brothers-in-law Edgar, Stanley, Charles and Patrick Genneaux, Henry, Arthur and John Lavers; parents-in-law Isadore and Lucy Lavers. Cremation will take place at Humber Valley Crematorium. A memorial service will take place from the Anglican Church in Port Au Choix on Saturday, March 23rd at 7 P.M.
