Obituary of James Ronald Hickey

Hickey

James Ronald

Corner Brook, NL

1935 – 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Hickey announce his passing at Corner Brook Long Term Care on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the age of 83 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter: Michelle (Patrick), sons: Todd and Michael; grandchildren: Brandon, Brittany, Tyler and Kristine; sisters: Laura, Margaret, Mona and brother Ron, and a circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Yvonne; son Robby; parents Joseph and Annie Hickey; siblings: Rhoady, Gerald, Joe, Ted, Mary and Libby. Jim Hickey was indeed a legend in his own right. Everyone from Humbermouth to Curling knew Jim as a fun-loving individual whose sole purpose was to bring a smile to one’s face. He had an innate ability to make each and every person he came in contact with feel important. Every Christmas as families awaited the arrival of Santa, Jim never failed. Regardless of the weather his mission was not complete until he delivered gifts to every child. Jim was the staple of Humbermouth, Spruce Brook and Bonnie Bay Pond. He loved the cabin life and had an open-door policy.  Jim was a devoted husband, father and longtime employee of the gypsum plant. Hickey’s Lane will never be the same but rest assure he is with family and friends. So, Jim you have left an incredible impact on all of us. Now is your time to sit back with a cup of Hot Chocolate, a milk chocolate bar and a huge piece of Lemon Meringue Pie. Your work here is completed.  Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Sunday, May 5th from 7-9 p.m. and Monday, May 6th from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from where the Funeral Service will take place at the Chapel on Tuesday, May 7th at 2 p.m. with Father Edward Terry officiating. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NL 107 -835 Topsail Road Mount Pearl, NL A1N 3J6
