It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mercier Joseph Lacosta announce his passing on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 87 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 61 years Josephine (nee Burke); sons: Harold (Sarah) and Mark (Beverly); grandchildren: Daniel (Kate), Kendall, Madison, Gregory and Nicholas; great-grandchildren: Harrison and Emma; sisters: Isabella (John Vogel), Nebraska, USA and Sadie, Calgary, Alberta; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Emma (nee Kendall), sisters and brothers Ann, James, Stanley, Harold, Bart, Bernard, Margaret, Alphonsus, Rory, Mena, Theresa, Kathleen and John. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Edward Terry officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expression s of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to Corner Brook Long Term Care, Autism Society or the Diabetic Association.
