John "Bill" William Boland

February 3, 1949 - June 1, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of John “Bill” Boland announce his sudden passing on June 1, 2019 at 70 years of age. Born in Ferryland, Bill was a kind and gentle soul who touched the lives of many people. He gave so much and asked nothing in return. Predeceased by parents Gordon and Alice; sister Jose (Michael) Walsh; brother Don Boland; parents-in-law: Bride and Alex Hutchings; sisters-in-law Sister Josette Hutchings and Barbara Smith; brothers-in-law Edward Hutchings, Kevin Hutchings and Harry Rolls; and buddy Freckles. Leaving to mourn his beloved wife of 43 years, Colleen (nee Hutchings); son Paul (Rikki); sisters Margaret (John) Murphy, Millie (Bert) Stockley and Mereda (Jim) Martin; brother Ken Boland; sisters-in-law Bette Rolls, Joan Hutchings, Trudy (Werner) Schultz, Patricia Hutchings and Margaret Hutchings; brother-in-law Bill (Marie) Hutchings and Bill Smith; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. The family will receive visitors at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Curling Street, on Thursday, June 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and Friday, June 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 10:30 AM from Sacred Heart Parish, Curling, Father Jim Robertson officiating. Internment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Flowers are graciously accepted, or donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
