I am Garry Harriman, Bride`s former son in law (previously married to Karen ,Bride`s oldest daughter). I only found out about the death of Bride 2 weeks ago (via a close relative that is still in contact with Karen) and I am deeply saddened to hear of her death. I`ll be honest, we did not always get on well with each other and I am saddened to say that I said some retaliatory things to her when engaged in some dispute that I now deeply regret. Living in Goose Bay was a difficult time for me and not long after leaving the UK military. I did not really adjust to living in Labrador.
Karen and I stayed with Bride, Ray and Douglas for some months prior to purchasing our own home. I will always be grateful and appreciative for the acceptance and hospitality extended towards me by all during those times even if Bride and myself were at odds for some of that time. Bride loved her children and grandchildren, despite the issues they may have caused her. I was somewhat ingnorant of the deep and complex emotional issues that many Inuit and other indigenous Canadians were and are facing during my time in Labrador despite working for the Nunatsiavut Government some of my 5 years stay in Goose Bay.
My heart genuinely goes out to all of Bride's family and friends (she had many) and, in particular, to Raymond Oliver who was like a father to me and a great friend too. To all affected by Bride`s death, I send my love and deepest empathy.
