March 19, 1925 – June 26, 2019

Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness, Rosalie Hilda Hillier, at the age of 94. Her family was her life. She was predeceased by William, her husband of nearly 59 years, in 2009. Left to celebrate their dear mother’s life, with many cherished memories, her children Derek (Christine) of Gander, Clyde of St. John’s, Bernice (Wayne Ash) of Corner Brook, and daughter-in-law Maxine of Pasadena. She was sadly predeceased by son Keith (husband of Maxine) in 2018 and daughter-in-law Brenda (wife of Clyde) in 2017. 

Her influence will be sadly missed by her seven devoted grandchildren Jason (Lori) of Toronto, ON, Chad of Lower Sackville, NS, Brent (Janene) of Fort McMurray, AB, Michael (Sara) of St. Mary’s, ON, Jennifer of Stephenville, Jeffrey (Kate) of St. John’s, and Noah of Corner Brook. 

She was so grateful for the gift of her great-grandchildren Kennedy, Atticus, Lincoln and Jacob, Parker and Annabelle (and their mother Kerri Ann). 

Also left to mourn her brother Norman Hillier (Ruby), sisters Doris Pittman and Sheila (David Crocker), sisters-in-law Effie Hillier and Mae Bennett, many nephews, nieces, and other family members, and special friends Gilbert and Melvina Lushman. 

Rosalie was also predeceased by her parents, Stanley (1989) and Jessie (1969), and by brothers, Gerald and Raymond, sisters-in-law Millie Hillier, Evelyn Hillier, and Margaret Hillier, and brothers-in-law Fred Pittman, Albert Hillier, and Ernest Bennett.

A celebration of Rosalie’s life will be held at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Main St. in Corner Brook on Saturday, June 29th, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Tanya White and Archbishop Stewart Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday, June 27th, 7-9 p.m., and on Friday, June 28th, 2-4 p.m. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
