It is with great sadness that the family of Mabel Saunders announce her peaceful passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the age of 95 years. Leaving to mourn are her two daughters: Nona Bragg and Jane (Eric) Payne; five grandchildren: Karen (Robert) Strangward, Alfred (Stacey) Bragg, Maxine (Dennis) Lushman, Cynthia (William) Power, Susan (Rod) Follett; ten great-grandchildren: Rob and Ryan Strangward, Max, Sam and Ali Bragg, Andrew, Kaitlyn and Ryan Lushman, Carrie and Scott Follett; two sisters: Nellie (Henry-deceased) Oram, Marie (Colin) Wells; one brother Emerson (Audrey-deceased) Fifield and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred (1997), granddaughters Judy Bragg (1971), Mona Payne (1991), son-in-law Gordon Bragg (2003), parents Jacob and Annie (nee Brown) Fifield, siblings: Fannie (Charles) Gillingham, Queen (Edgar) Burry, Edgar (Maisie) Fifield, Jane (Chas) Davis, Alwin (Alfreda) Fifield, and Lester Fifield, brothers in-law: Llewelyn (Theresa) Saunders, and Kenneth (Hattie) Saunders. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Griffin, Dr. Ahmed, Dr. Dunne and Dr. Lafferty as well as the nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit and the staff of the Lohnes Complex. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, on Tuesday, July 23 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at Fillatre’s Chapel on Wednesday, July 24 at 1:00 pm officiated by Pastor Larry Soper. Interment will follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, Gideon Bible Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
