Sweet Gary's life and light have ended at Long Term Care in Corner Brook at the age of 60 years. Leaving to celebrate his life are his sister Sheila Caines and husband Bruce, niece Melanie Caines (St. John's) and nephew Adam Caines (Calgary). Gary was predeceased by his Mother, Monica in 1997 and his Father, John in 2007.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home 4 St. Marks Ave on Monday, August 19th at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Christian service will be held on Tuesday, August 20th at Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel, 4 St. Marks at 10:30 am with Father Ray officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery where Gary will be laid to rest next to his Mother and Father. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to (NLDSS) Newfoundland Labrador Down Syndrome Society. Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. O'Driscoll and the staff of Long Term Care for their compassion and ongoing care.
