It is with much sadness that the family of the late Eva Hann, 93, announce her passing peacefully away on Wednesday, February 4th, 2009, at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, NL. Eva was born August 8, 1915 in Rose Blanche to parents Mary (nee Dominey) and Augustus Ashford. In 1933, Eva married Percival Hann in Petites. She remained active in the church, leading services when the Minister was absent, and was the superintendent of the Sunday School. She was a life-time member of the United Church Women’s Organization, and received a life-time membership pin commemorating over fifty years of service. Eva Hann (nee Ashford) was pre-deceased by her parents Mary and Augustus Ashford, husband Percival (1971), daughter Alice Baggs (1978), sisters Mary Finlayson and Ida, brothers Stanley, Percival, Henry, sister-in-law Mary Ashford, sons-in-law Levi Baggs, Donald Spicer and Ross Spicer, and brother-in-law Jim Finlayson. She was survived by daughters May (Michael) Best, Nina Spicer, Ida (Wayne) Herritt of Rose Blanche. Her grandchildren are Wayne (Judy) Baggs of Burlington, ON, Rick (Diane) Baggs of Kingston, ON, Jeff (Lisa) Baggs of Milton, ON, Lisa Baggs and Randy Leishman of Brampton, ON, Kevin (Sherry) Best of Loyd-Minister, AB, Michell Best and Shawn Osmond of Port aux Basques, Donna Spicer and Michael Ford of Cape Ray, Dustin Spicer of Dartmouth, NS, Sheldon Herritt and Rachel Richardson of St. John’s, Randy Herritt and Candace Pickett of Bedford, NS. Her great-grandchildren are Rosanna, Levi and Arlo Baggs, Samantha and Alice Baggs-Johnston, Stephanie and Krista Spicer, Zachery Ford, Bradley and Brittany Best, Spencer Francis and Dawson Best. Her sisters-in-law are Nina Ashford of Glace Bay, NS, Dorothy Ashford of Hamilton, ON. She is missed by her many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, including her special family at the Senoirs Complex where she lived, and her United Church Family, especially Phyllis and Sal Davis, and Reverend Ritchie. She was known for her kind heart and warm smile. She will be sadly missed. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port Aux Basques on Thursday and Friday, between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place at Wesley United Church on Saturday, February 7th at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Pat Ritchie officiating. Interment following at the United Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to Westley United Church or the charity of one's choice.
