James (Jim) Charles Llewellyn Bungay

It is with heavy hearts that the family of James (Jim) Charles Bungay announce his peaceful passing on December 11th, 2019. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his beloved wife, Mildred; his daughter, Karen Brake (John); his son, Kevin Bungay (Louise); his niece, Elaine Pittman (Bernard); his grandchildren Lindsay Underhill (Shaun), Lara Brake, Chelsea Brake, and Jordan Bungay; the apples of his eye, great-granddaughters Eva and Sawyer Underhill; great niece Stephanie Burden (Craig), great nephew Devin Pittman (Heather) and Aaron Pittman (Haley); niece Beverly Pittman (Ernest), nephew Brian Harding (Tammy), honorary granddaughter Rev. Tanya White, as well as many other friends and family members. Predeceased by his parents, James & Minnie Bungay, his sisters Christina and Lorna.

James retired in 1985 from a long career as a teacher and principal, during which he shared his passion for learning with his students and touched many lives. He enjoyed being involved in his church community, sharing his musical gifts by playing accordion and guitar and raising his voice in song. He will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Fillatre’s Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 St. Marks Avenue, Corner Brook and Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Cathedral, Main Street, Corner Brook Archdeacon David Taylor, Archbishop Stewart Payne and Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment to follow at Townsite Cemetery. Reception to follow.

Many thanks to the nurses and doctors of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital ER, 3B, and Palliative Care, with special thanks to Dr. Mark Smallwood. Your caring and kindness will not be forgotten.
