It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of our dear wonderful mother, Madonna Mercedes Young at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on the evening of January 9, 2020 at the age of 81. She will be missed but greatly remembered by all that knew her.
Predeceased by her loving and devoted husbands Billy Alexander and Ted Young; her parents, Eva and Frank LeCoure; her brothers: Clayton, Clifford, Nevin, Billy; sister Eileen and stepson Terry. Leaving to mourn with a life full of wonderful memories are her loved children and stepchildren; Trudy Begin (Bob), Cal Alexander (Sherry), Andy Alexander (Malvina), Shelley Hobbs (Calvin), Robin Alexander (Marla), Allison Alexander (Lynne), Joan (Doug) Barbara, Victor; her treasured grandchildren: Tanya, Bryan, Eryca, CJ, Damien, Leah, Calan, Lacey, Ashley, Shawn, Jordynn, Jesse, Kaylen, her adored great-grandchildren: Phoenix, Mercades, Britynn, Ryder, Blair, Elliott, Andi, Eloise, Olive and a new great- granddaughter on the way; her wonderful brothers: Ronnie, Donnie (Thelma) as well as many extended family and friends.
We would like to extend a special thank you for the amazing support, care and love given by Leigh-Ann and Eva. The continuous dedication and love that you both gave to our mother and her family throughout her illness will always be ingrained in our hearts. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Maximum Home Support and Social Services. The homecare workers and social worker provided have become special friends to us and to the staff at the hospital and Palliative Care unit. A special shout out to nurse Mercedes for the support and strength given to us in mom’s last hour. Father Maurice O’Quinn, your weekly visits provided much comfort and was greatly appreciated.
In keeping with mom’s wish’s cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life and funeral service will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. George’s Catholic Ladies Guild.
