Clifford Chubbs

Obituary of Clifford James Chubbs

Clifford James Chubbs June 20, 1936 - January 14, 2020 With deep sadness we announce the passing of Clifford James Chubbs at 83 years of age on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 after a long battle with multiple illnesses. Clifford passed peacefully after receiving excellent care from the staff and volunteers at Foothills Country Hospice. Clifford leaves to mourn his wife Louisa Chubbs, his children Eileen Rowland (Scott), Marilyn Carpenter (Ted), Alvin Chubbs (Fabiana), Scott Chubbs (Lisa); his brother Russel Chubbs, and sister Mabel Dumerasque (Eldridge). Clifford also leaves grandchildren Kate, Aida, Zane, Benjamin, Jordan (Amanda), Tara (Lee), Mark (Danielle), Michelle and Alecia, and one great-grandchild Quinn. Clifford was predeceased by his father, Alphaeus, his mother, Mary (Letto), his brothers Dave, Bill, Les, Amos, Cecil, Alphaeus and his sisters Rita and Mathilda. Clifford was born on June 20, 1936 in L’Anse Au Clair, Labrador. On February 17, 1958, he married Louisa Letto and they were blessed to have had 62 years together. Clifford started working in Labrador at 16 years of age and taught himself how to operate many types of heavy equipment before his natural leadership skills had him quickly moving into management. His last 15 years, prior to retirement in 1994, were with Syncrude Canada Ltd in Fort McMurray, Alberta where he made lifelong friends. In later years he enjoyed recounting his various adventures. Clifford enjoyed all outdoor activities and was frequently working on some home improvement project. He loved to travel and spent several years vacationing in the sun with his wife Louisa in their 5th wheel. That fit his style as he never wished to stay still or in one place for very long. Even when he was very ill, he needed to get out for a walk, however short. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, L’Anse Au Clair. If desired, in memory of Clifford, his family would appreciate donations to either St. Andrews Anglican Church in L’Anse Au Clair, Labrador or to Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks, Alberta.
