Rita E. Hall Mendes January 10, 1932 – January 25, 2020 It is with sadness that the family of Rita Elizabeth Hall Mendes announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, NL at the age of 88 years. She will be forever remembered by her children: Arthur (Patsy), Amelia (Wayne) Dicks, Mary (Wade) Piercey, Danny (Patricia), Anna (Danny) House, Joe (Mary), Margaret Dalley, Bernard, Cecilia, Wally (Crystal), Rita (Mark) German, Brenda (Mike) Brake, Jenny (Jim Power), Cathy (Oral) Burry, Susie (Pat) Sabouran, Bernadette and Theresa; her many precious grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings: Rose (Dave) Morgan, Wally, Gordon (Kay) and Susie Hillier; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her extended Mendes family. Rita was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Joseph, her 2nd husband and dear friend John Mendes; grandson Matthew; son-in-law Dave Dalley; parents Margaret and Wallace Young; siblings: Edward, Walter, Jack, Theresa, Annie, Kate, Cecilia, Marion, Marie and Helena. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’ s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Curling Street Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10:30 am with Father Jim Robertson officiating, followed by the interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Parish or the Shepherd’s Fund.
