1946 -2020
The Savard family would like to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Anastasia Verna Hynes on Tuesday February 25, 2020 at the Western Regional Hospital at the age of 73. Anastasia Verna Hynes was born on Woods Island July 27, 1946 to Patrick Peter Hynes and Gertrude Lavers, she lived there with her parents and two sisters Loraine and Patricia until 1961 when they were resettled to Benoits Cove, where she resided for most of her life. This remarkable woman will be forever remembered by her son Glenn Savard and his wife Paula (Youden), her dear friend Melina Youden; grandsons Eugene Savard and wife Kerriann (Duffney) and their children Liam & Ellie, Stephen Savard and wife Rachelle (Evans) and their children Evan & Nathan and Jillian French; sister Patricia (Hynes) and husband Arthur Hall; nieces Coleen Kitely and husband Warren and their children Dylan & Carter, Trina Hynes, Tracey Rose and husband Dennis and their children Jannell & Allison, Kelly Adey and husband Sheldon and their children James & Kyra, nephew Edward Metcalf, as well Verna’s extended family and a special group of friends that she treasured will mourn her loss. She was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Gertrude Hynes, sister Loraine Hynes; husbands Eugene Joseph Savard and William Thomas Maher. In keeping with her wish’s cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home 218 Curling Street Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10:30 am from Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Benoits Cove with Father Jim Robertson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. As expression of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.
