Obituary of Clarence Joseph Jackman

Clarence Joseph Jackman 1929 – 2020 Clarence passed peacefully at Tiffany Village on March 1, 2020 in his 91st year. Dearly loved by his wife Marjorie who predeceased him in 2014. Left with fond memories are his sisters: Patricia Drover, Betty Rushton, Mary Rees (Melvin), Angela Keeping (Calvin) and Madeline Jackman; his sisters-in-law: Audrey Nell (Peter) and Helen Milley. Also left with fond memories are his special nieces Catherine Power (Gerald), Karen Nell-Bennett (Andrew), Hazel Milley, Ruth Kelly (Steve), Shirley White, Yvonne King (George), Judy Strong (Tom) and many other relatives and friends. Clarence enjoyed spending time with his great nieces and nephews and in his later years had a fun loving connection with his great-great nieces and nephews. Clarence was born on Bell Island and later moved to Corner Brook. In 1953 he graduated as a Pharmaceutical Chemist and in 1963 he opened Jackman’s Pharmacy in Corner Brook. He held various roles in Newfoundland and Canadian Pharmaceutical Associations. He was active in the Corner Brook Lions Club as well as the International Association of the Lions Club. His other community service work has included efforts for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, the Red Cross, the Mental Health Association and Muscular Dystrophy Association. Clarence loved golf, curling, travel and music. He was a very kind and gentle man who always had a smile and keen sense of humour. Clarence was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be sadly missed. Clarence’s family wishes to express oceans of gratitude to the staff at Tiffany Village which was his home for the past six years. They provided exemplary care. A sincere thank you to his personal care attendants Doreen Bailey and Ogi Biason and also Dr. Coleman for their compassionate care especially during his last few days. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Vera Perlin Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Granting Clarence’s wishes there will be no visitation and a private family funeral will be held.
