It is with great sadness that the family of the late Olive Lillian Shears announce her passing on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Deer Lake Manor at the age of 92 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Scott Shears Jr. (Donna), Cyril Shears (Geraldine) and Lisa Shears-Smith (Todd); grandchildren: Jane Shears, Catherine Shears (Nicole Byers), Vicki-Rae Shears-Tucker (Jamie), Gregory Shears (Amy Mitzi), Brandon Smith (Rebecca Chaulk) and Matthew Smith; great-grandchildren: Noah and Aiden Gardner, Scarlett, Colton and Preston Tucker, Autumn Sparkes and Benjamin Smith; sisters: Brenda Roberts and Patsy Bard (Jim); sisters and brothers-in-law: Ethel Pittman, Elizabeth Dyke-Sparkes, Llewelyn Shears (Ivy), Mona Major, Walter Shears (Dorcas), Irving Shears (Dallis), Mae Perry (Wheeler), Cecil Hunt and Shirley Shears; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Scott Shears Sr., parents John and Mary Hynes, brothers Cyril Hynes, Goden Hynes and Douglas Hynes (Marion), sister Marie Hunt, parents-in-law Gordon and Violet Shears, brothers and sisters-in-law Gordon Shears, Linda Endicott (Laudric), Curtis Pittman, Guy Dyke, Lloyd Sparkes, George Major and Donald Roberts, nephews David Major and Calvin Hunt. A special thank you to Dr. Bowen, Dr. Kielty and all the staff at the Deer Lake Manor. Visitation will be limited to family and close friends only at St. Matthews Anglican Church in Rocky Harbour on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm from where the funeral service, which is also limited to family and close friends only, will be held on Friday, March 20 at 11:00 am with Rev. Wilhelmena Green officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Rocky Harbour. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.
