Obituary of George Pardy
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Pardy was 90 years old when he passed away in hospital in Middleton NS, April 3 2020. He had recently moved from Deer Lake Newfoundland.
He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. He held a special place in his heart for his children, grand-children, great grand-children, his many nieces, nephews, cousins and indeed all of his extended family. He is survived by his children Cheryl, Darren, and Don, and his sister Elva Rideout. Born in Port Blandford NL to Alfred and Rachel Pardy, his family later moved to Corner Brook where in 1954 he married Margaret (Crowley), (deceased April 7, 2019).
Dad was a hard working family man who loved and was loved by his family and friends. We will miss his smile, his quick wit and humour, and his ability to spin a good yarn. He
was a wonderful landscape artist, and loved hunting and fishing in the Newfoundland outdoors; hobbies he maintained into his 80's. The places he visited during these trips often inspired his beautiful paintings.
A graveside service in Pasadena NL. will be held at a later date to be announced.
For Our Dear Dad.
I’d often sit down and on the phone, talk to our dear Dad
Pretty soon his stories would have me grinning once again
“It was freezing cold here yesterday, and today again it snowed”
When you’re down in Newfoundland that’s just the way it goes
I wish I could be down there and enjoy just once again
A cup of Tetley tea and Purity crackers in a can
When I think about them days
I wish them back again
Sitting at the table there talking with my dear Dad
There’d be trout down in the freezer
And moose out on the stove
Mom there baking fresh bread, working on the dough
The house all warm and cozy
With his paintings on the wall
The snow outside just coming down
been that way since the fall
Our dear Dad he lived a life to ninety years of age
Now we count the blessings and turn another page
But I’ll still reminisce, oh to have just once again
Sitting at the table talking there with my dear Dad
