Obituary of Beverley Wheeler
Please share a memory of Beverley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beverley Wheeler (nee Martin, Lundrigan), age 78, passed away peacefully April 14, 2020 after a long illness with Alzheimer’s. She was the second child born May 3, 1941 in Corner Brook, NL to Roy and Annie Martin. She eloped and married William Archibald Lundrigan, in August of 1960 who preceded her in death in 2007. She later in life married her longtime friend and high school love Weldon (Will) Wheeler in December 1998.
Beverley was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She resided in Corner Brook, Halifax, Montreal, York Harbour and Florida and had many dear friends wherever she lived. Bubsy, as her family lovingly called her, will be fondly remembered for her lovable spirit, laughter and ability to light up a room.
For many years, Beverley worked in the healthcare industry as a nurse, in geriatric care, supporting so many families as their loved ones passed from this world. It suited her servant heart. She said she did it because everyone deserved respect and compassion in their final hours of life. She used to always say: “Do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others.” Her life was a living example of her favorite hymn “Amazing Grace.”
Beverley is survived by her husband Will, sister and husband Gloria and Ivan Manuel, sister Judy and Mitt Sheppard, sister Geraldine Martin and David Mason; predeceased by her youngest sister Peggy Ann Martin (Lundrigan). Beverley is also survived by her children, daughters Dawn and husband Dan Mercer (St. Phillips, NL), daughter Tonya Lundrigan Fry (Halifax, NS), sons and their wives William and Caroline Morneau (Calgary AB), Andy and Samantha Lundrigan (Cambridge, UK); grandchildren, Ian, Ryan and Kaely Mercer, Peter Fry and Sacha and Oliver Lundrigan.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the wonderful, caring, loving staff at Corner Brook Long Term Care, who took care of Beverley’s every need for the past 6 years.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NL.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26 at 1:00 p.m. from Humber United Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Due to Covid-19 Government restrictions a maximum of 40 people. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
