It is with heavy hearts that family of Robert “John” Myers announce his passing on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook in his 90th year. He leaves to mourn his wife of 62 years Veronica (nee Guineaux); daughters: Elaine Crouse (George), Darlene Myers and Jackie Simms (Craig); 7 grandchildren: Tonya, Lisa, Jennifer, Adam, Troy, Brady and Riley; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Kitty and Helen, 1 brother Leo; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by 3 children John, Rodney and Maureen, sisters Zita, Helena and Anne and brother Jim. “Skipper John” was a wonderful family man who enjoyed the great outdoors, he was an avid camper and thoroughly loved taking his family camping for the past 55 years. He had a long career as a car salesman spending more than 37 years working at City Motors. Skipper had a passion for hockey and could often be seen at the stadiums supporting local hockey both youth and senior. He was a 4th Degree Knight, loved a good game of cards he looked forward to his card games with the Curling 50+ card group. Thank you to Dr. Coleman, his family doctor who took great care of our father for over 30 years, staff of 3B at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for their excellent care. A special thank you to Cody LaFosse and the community health nurses who went over and above in the care of our dad. And to Fillatre's Funeral Home for the kind and exceptional service. Because of Covid-19, there will be no visitation. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 9 from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer with Father Edward Terry officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association.
