GERALD JORDAN

MAY 3, 1944 – JULY 16, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of the late Gerald Jordan at the age of 76 years. Gerald died in the early morning hours of July 16, after a brief stay in the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial, Corner Brook, while held in the loving embrace of his wife, Catherine, daughter Berni and granddaughter, Beth.

Left to mourn their loss are his wife of 51 years, Catherine (nee Keating), daughter Donna (Alex Holzwarth) and their children Jack and Kurt, daughter Berni and her children Beth (Poppy’s princess) and Bailey, and his precious and close companion, his dog, Ella. Also left to mourn are his brothers Billy (Mary), Clarence (Sue), Jerome (Christine), Gordon (Val), his sister Shirley (Roger), sister-in-law Patricia Jordan, brother-in-law, Wayne Clark, sister-in-law, Helen Keating, his Keating brothers-in-law, Bob (Mary), Bill (Rosemary), Charlie (Joan). He also leaves behind his many nieces and nephews and their families and his numerous friends of Bill W. with whom he and his family shared an incredible journey, He is pre-deceased by his parents, William and Carmel Jordan, brothers Donny and Kevin and his sisters Helen Donnelly, Jean Clark and Ruth Jordan.

We want to thank all those who reached out to us in person and in prayer through Gerald’s illness. Thank you to a good and gracious God who gave this family the gift of a caring and compassionate doctor in the person of Dr. Bob O’Driscoll, a nurse, Danielle Caines who was always there to answer questions and to guide us along the way, Dr. Lafferty ad the nursing staff of the palliative care unit for their kindness and care for Gerald and the family. Last, but not least, his home support worker, Dee Daye, who went above and beyond in taking care of all of us.

Now he may finally find out the answer to his question, “Who broke the ear on the fox?”

Funeral arrangements will be made when it is safe for Donna and her family to travel home. In the mean time, lift Gerald in prayer to the God of your understanding, do a kind deed in his name, leave us a story of how he touched your life. If you would like make a donation to All Hallows Parish, Corner Brook, to another charity of your choice in his name, please do so.

“May songs of the angels welcome you and guide you along your way. May the smiles of the martyrs greet your own as darkness turns into day. Every fear will be undone and death will be no more, as songs of the angels bring you home before the face of God”. Rest in peace.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 21 at 10:00 AM from All Hallows Parish, Humber Road. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
