Pauline Evelyn Walsh
Blanc Sablon, PQ
Mary PAULINE Evelyne Walsh Burke, 89 years young, of Blanc Sablon Quebec passed away on July 20th, 2020 at the local hospital.
Pauline was born in Flower’s Cove, NL to Luke P. Walsh and Rosanna Lavallee on August 26th, 1930. Her family moved back to Blanc Sablon in 1932. In January 1948 she married William J Burke and moved back to Flower’s Cove where they lived until 1952. They moved back to Blanc Sablon with their two eldest and continued to grow their family to eleven children. Over the years in Blanc Sablon, Pauline was a very active member of the church and community. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Church choir as well as being a lay reader and an advocate for 62 years of the Miraculous Medal Association. She was an active village councilor and then mayor as well as leader for the Brownies and Cubs. She took pride in being a host family for Hudson Bay clerks and when her youngest started school she became a part of the Hudson Bay staff and worked as a butcher for ten years. When she finally got some free time, she loved travelling and camping. Her most treasured accomplishment was her family.
Pauline, loving mother of: Paulette (Andre Losier), Brian (Annette Griffin), Kevin, Don (Ella Griffin), Madonna, Philip (Judy Butler) Rosanna (Marcel Letemplier) Aline (the late Bob Burke), Harvey (Anita Joncas), Lyndon (Velma Butt) and Stephen (Tara Gorman). Her grandchildren Jean Claude and Simon, the late Jeremy, Fabian, Brendan and Meagan, Johnathan and Jason, Jessica and Ian, Patrick, Dany and Johnny, Cordell and Cassie, Samantha, Max, Serena and Dillon. She also had eighteen great grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. For each of us she was the “bestest” mother and grandmother who forever will be cherished in our hearts.
Pauline is preceded in death by her husband William Burke, her brother Patrick, Narcisse (Annie) and Cleophas (Beatrice) and her sisters Josephine (Edward), Mary Agnes (Bill) and Rosalie (Francis) and her grandson Jeremy all of whom she missed terribly.
After a life well-lived and a rest well-earned she is gone to join those that she loved in that big campground in the sky.
Funeral service will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on Wednesday, July 22nd at 2 P.M. with Father John Admiula officiating. Internment to follow at the Chapel of Peace Cemetery. Filliatre’s Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
If you wish to make a donation in her memory, the family would appreciate donations made to the Doctor Camille Marcoux Foundation, 1070, boul. Dr. Camille Marcoux, Blanc Sablon, Qc. G0G 1W0.
