It is with great sadness and the heaviest of hearts that the family of the late Herma Compagnon (nee Marche) announce her passing on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, NL at the age of 87 years.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters: Tilly (Chris) Hiscock, Ada (Randy) Marche, Lori (Mike) Belliveau; son Marty (Kim) Compagnon; grandchildren: Thomas Marche, Adam Hiscock, Dustin Marche, Stephanie Hiscock, Kyle Compagnon, Sarah Compagnon; great-grandchild Jensen Marche; siblings: DeLourdes (Bill) Pilgram, Inez Marche, Brenda Marche, Bill (Shari) Marche, Joachim (Debbie) Marche, Gary (Ingrid) Marche, Howard (Gerry) and (Norma) Marche as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Gerald; infant son Richard; parents Gerard & Ethrelda (White) Marche; brothers: Herman, Albert Francis; sisters: Ada, Laura, Reda and Katherine.
Herma was the second oldest of 16 children. She always gave a warm, loving welcome. She was always the hostess with a meal, dessert and cup of tea. She was so famously known for her cakes and pies. She was a woman of enormous faith and was known to pray for many and had many request for her novenas.
Herma’s family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Silverwood Manor, Kippens, NL where she resided for the last 4 years. The family also wishes to extend sincere thanks to the many friends and family there to assist Ada as they sat vigil with our mom, bless you all. Many thanks to the staff of the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for the care and compassion shown to our mother during her brief illness and the support to our sibling Ada who had to take this journey alone with our mom due to Covid-19 restrictions as we could not be there in person.
There will be a private family viewing at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL. The funeral mass will take place at St. Stephen’s Parish, Stephenville, NL with Father Maurice O’Quinn and Father Kris Mekala officiating. Interment in the Roman Catholic section of Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Stephenville, NL will take place following the service. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Parish, Stephenville, NL.
