Lillian Mae Wells (nee Blanchard) December 6, 1912 – August 20, 2020 Cox’s Cove, NL It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Lillian Mae Wells announce her passing at her family residence in Cox’s Cove on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the age of 107 years. Lily as she was fondly known was born in Gillams and the only girl of 7 boys. Lily was a very hard worker all of her life spending many days working alongside of her father in the woods, she was a cook in the woods camps feeding many hungry men, she worked at the Herring store of McIvers, she sold Avon and ran her own convenience store and of course raised a very large family. Lily was very loved by everyone who knew her, she was such a pleasant lady who had a big smile for everyone. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Donna (Kevin) Blanchard, who took care of her right to the end, Lena Crocker (Gerald – deceased), Dina (Calvin) Murrin and Mathilda (Fred) Pynn, step-children: Phyllis Attwood (Morley-deceased), Doreen Lewis (Lewis – deceased), Russell (Linda) Wells and Benny (Gloria) Wells; grandchildren: Kevin (Vicki), Warren (Phoebe), Quentin (Lisa), Quincy (Twyna), Ferlin )Coleen), Marizona, Todd (Cathy), Marla (Ron) and special granddaughter-in-law Doris Crocker (Lyle); step-grandchildren: Judy (Bob), Wade, Shane, Andy, Todd (Mae), Mark (Janet), Kim (Brent), Tim (Shandi), Ronnie and Lee (Sherry); also many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Gerald (Beatrice) and Claude (Bonnie – deceased); sisters-in-law: Georgina (Max) Curtis and Mercedes Wells (William – deceased); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, especially special friends Evelyn and Bill White. She was predeceased by her first husband Hubert Hall, second husband Benjamin Wells, 2006, daughter Geraldine, son Archie, daughter Cindy, 2019, grandchildren Levina, Hubert, Archibald, Sandra and Phyllis, parents Edmund and Margaret Blanchard, brothers Joe (Doily), Curtis (Regina), Archie, Eddie and Harry, special nephew Bernard Blanchard. Special thank you to her homecare workers Pauline, Lynn, Gloria and Amanda for their exceptional care and a special thank you to Eddie Joyce and Judy Bolt for their continued support. A private family viewing will be held. A private family funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 23 at 3:00 p.m. from Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Cox’s Cove with Pastor Orvin Canning officiating. Interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Cox’s Cove.
