It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of the late Thomas Edmunds, a dear father and the treasured grandfather and great grandfather of our family. He passed away peacefully in the presence of family members at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at the age of 91. He is predeceased by his wife, Silpa Edmunds (nee Sillett) who passed in 2015. Born to parents William and Elizabeth Edmunds in Tishialuk, Labrador on April 19, 1929. Thomas travelled to Hopedale for work at the age of 24. He stopped off at a dance and he saw this girl who took his breath away. He walked straight down to her father’s house in Hopedale and asked to marry his daughter. Silpa Sillet then became Silpa Edmunds and he said “Forever my love, forever”. He is now gone to meet the girl who stole his heart way back when. He is also predeceased by his son John(Cora); parents William and Elizabeth Edmunds ; in-laws Jerry and Ester(Tittu) Sillett; siblings Lavinia, John, David, Robert, Jane, Mary, Nancy, Thomas, James and Mae. He will be sadly missed by his stepson Frank Sillett; stepdaughter Mary Jane Sillett; daughter Joan(Brian) Coote; son Jerry(Mary); son David; son Robert(Jessie); son Gary; son Ricky(Margie); siblings Della Gillett; Job(Roberta) and Curtis; as well as his 26 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A warm thank you to all the medical staff at Postville Medical Clinic, Labrador Health Centre, and Health Science Centre. We also wish to extend a special thank you to Fillatre’s Funeral Home. We are forever greatful for everything you have done for our family at this most difficult time. Thomas lived a long, full life, surrounded by much joy and loving family, and will be dearly missed. He will be laid to rest in Postville, Labrador. Expressions of sympathy are greatly appreciated.
