Obituary of Randolph Guy Gillingham

It is with sadness that the family of the late Randolph Guy Gillingham announce his passing Tuesday, December 1st, 2020, at the St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, St. John’s, at the age of 86 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Anita Ralph (Ivan), Pollard’s Point; Randy (Poppy), Ontario; Alvin (Brenda), Mount Pearl; Lawson (Marissa), Conception Bay South; Grandchildren: Blair, Jeremy, Amy, Samantha, and Jamie; Great-Grandchildren: Isla and Brayden; Sister: Alma Parsons, Corner Brook; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Eva Gillingham; spouse: Dorcas; and sisters Dora Bell and Stella.
The family would like to send a special thank-you to the staff of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for the great care they provided and compassion they showed.
Randolph was an avid guitar player and loved to sing the old country songs and old church hymns. He was also a very social person; he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, where he would often tell stories of growing up on Sop’s Island, a place he often enjoyed visiting.
The family will be having a private gathering at St. Michaels Anglican Church on Saturday, December 5th, and the funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on December 5th and due to Covid19 it will be restricted to a maximum of 50 people. Rev. Charlene Laing officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Pollard’s Point.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Patrick’s Mercy Home Foundation.
