Charlotte “Ann” Hopkins 1937-2020 Charlotte “Ann” Hopkins (nee Blanchard) was born on October 5, 1937 to Thomas and Mary Blanchard at Wild Cove. She married the love of her life, Randolph Hopkins on November 17, 1955 and they were blessed with five sons and two daughters. She was a homemaker until her children were raised, after which she began working at the fish plant until the fishery closed in 1992. She loved to bake and cook for her family and friends. There was never a time when you visited her home that she did not offer you a cup of tea and some baked goodies. She served the Lord all her life. She was very dedicated to the Salvation Army in Englee, where she served as YP Treasure for over 40 years. She also served as Corps Secretary for several years. She leaves to mourn her children: Lorne (Donna), Garry (Sheila), Kirke (Pamela), Harry (Mary), Glenn, Debbie (Todd) Chaulk and Dolly (Roger) Ellsworth; grandchildren: Bradley, Andy, April, Bonnie, Cody, Stephen, Jeremy, Trevor, Cassidi, Tammy, Tim, Troy, Tony, Andre, Ryan, Stephanie, Kathryn, Jade and Carter; great-grandchildren: Braydon, Chase, Dylan, Ava, Mathieu, Faith, Isaac, Lincoln, Tanner, CJ, Stella, Logan, Jayden, Jaxon, Lily, Kaley, Kate, Hailie and Ellie; great-great-grandson William; sisters: Marjorie Canning and Patsy (Melvin) Anstey; brothers: Calvin (Mildred), Jasper (Brenda) and David Blanchard; sisters-in-law: Annie Blanchard, Rowena Hopkins, Emma (Harvey) Compton, Tina (Terry) Peddle and Betty (Gordon) Rice; brothers-in-law: Leslie Canning, Esau (Josephine), Bert (Joan) and Wilfred (Regina) Hopkins; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Randolph, parents Thomas and Mary Blanchard, parents-in-law Jonas and Tamer Hopkins, sister Beulah (Stanley) Hancock, brother Thomas Blanchard, sisters-in-law Marjorie Blanchard, Louise (Maxwell) Squires, Effie (John) Sweetland, Marguerite Canning, Olive (Allen) Compton and Katie (Ralph) Parsons, brothers-in-law Percy Hopkins, James Morris and Roy (Kathy and Melvina) Hopkins. She passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Western Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook, surrounded by her loving family. Due to Covid-19 Government Restrictions a private family visitation will be held at the Salvation Army Church in Englee, from where a private funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 29 with Major Lillian Pelley and Major Wilfred Simms officiating. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
