Captain Reginald MacDonald
Nov. 11, 1942 – Jan. 13, 2021
With heavy hearts we are saddened to announce the passing of Captain Reginald MacDonald on January 13th, 2021 at the age of 78 years.
Reggie was born on November 11th, 1942 in Burgeo. He spent the first eight years of his life in Rose Blanche before moving to Port Morien, NS. Reg grew up in Port Morien and had many memories and stories to tell of his Cape Breton home. Reg moved to Ramea in 1989 where he spent the remainder of his life with his wife, Susie.
Reginald spent the majority of his time at sea, doing what he loved most, until he retired in 2005. He was known for his feisty personality and standing firm for everything he believed in. Reg was witty, quick-tongued and extremely musically talented. There wasn’t an instrument he couldn’t play or a song he couldn’t sing.
Leaving to mourn with heavy hearts are his wife, Susie MacDonald; children Paula MacDonald, Kathy Timmons (Brent), Billy MacDonald (Rhonda), and Erica Green (Christian); grandsons Jamie Timmons, William MacDonald, and Dominic Green; great-granddaughter Renee Watkins; and brother Thomas MacDonald, who was not only a brother, but a mentor, father figure, and friend. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Reggie was predeceased by his parents Netta and Steve MacDonald, daughter Wanda, granddaughters Sarah and Nicole, brother Edward (Ted), and niece Juanita. He was also predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Archie and Alice Carter, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.
May your Morning Star take you home to the arms of our saviour. Sail on, Skipper.
