John Joseph King Corner Brook, NL April 8, 1935 – January 23, 2021 It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Joseph King announces his passing on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit at the age of 85 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 65 years Florence King (nee Hayes); sons: Todd King (Susan), Glenn King (Tracy) and Robert King; granddaughters: Kristal, Jennifer, Jennifer, Angela, Ashley and Alexis; great-grandchildren: Summer and Jayden; brothers: George King, Ed King (Mary) and Ken King (Madonna); sister Alice Wiseman (Ray); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents James and Margaret (Power) King, brothers Jim King (Gertrude), Gerald King (Mary) and Vincent King (Olive), sisters Mary McWhirter (Harry), Loretta Morris (Bill), Marion Bishop (Bill) and Gertrude King, sister-in-law Doris King. A private visitation will be held for family and friends at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue. A private Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Parish in Curling on Tuesday, January 26 with Father Jim Robertson officiating. Cremation to follow with interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.
