Elaine Brown
Jean Elaine Flora Brown, dedicated grandmother, mother, daughter, wife, friend and teacher, in that order, died at Corner Brook on January 27, 2021. Elaine, the eldest daughter of Bill and Lorraine Gosse of Spaniard's Bay was born on August 7, 1949. Although born a Canadian she was a proud daughter of Newfoundland. She cherished her roots in Conception Bay and her relationships with her aunts, uncles and cousins.
Elaine lived her life with whole lot of determination, love and efficiency with a sprinkling of laughter and badness. She kept Rex afloat for over 50 years and managed him better than any other human could. Rex's successful adventure with the March Hare wouldn't have been possible without her. Their love was true. She didn't hold back on praise for her children, nor they for her; it was a mutual admiration society. The joy and sunshine of her life was of course her two grandchildren, Luke and Kate. Although the odds were not in her favour she was always confident she would see them grow up and she did.
Elaine is survived by her husband Rex, children, Jill (Aubrey) and Jim (Carrie), mother Lorriane, sister Barb (Ken), brothers Ted and Roger (Janet), and sisters-in-law Barbara and Brenda (Bob), nephews Will, Sam and Brendan and nieces, Clara, Michelle, Heather and Janine. She also leaves her fellow Bitches, Ruth, Lorraine, Sandra, Yvonne, Glenda and Barb, friend Lynda and many other close relatives and friends, too many to mention.
She also leaves two very special dogs, Cardiff and Beamish who brought her great comfort this past year.
Elaine was predeceased by her daughter Jane, father Bill and brother Jimmy, memories of whom she held close and gave her strength.
Elaine was stoic to the end. Her goal in life was to support and lift others higher for which she had great success. Due to Covid a private funeral will take place at her home church, First United. Memorial donations may be made to First United Church, Corner Brook.
A life well lived.
