WWII Veteran Forestry Unit
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Albert Lewis of Conche, a Veteran of Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit from 1940 - 1946. Leaving to mourn his devoted wife of 59 years Bride, two daughters: Bridget (Dennis Porter) and Nellie (Colin Wall), four sons: Steven (Rita), Don (Joan), Maurice (Alice) and Barry (Maxine), 11 grandchildren: Renee, Courtney, Mark, Miriam, Clare, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Jason, Victor, Aimee and Alicia, sister Madeline, St. John’s, brother Harry, Conche. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Ellen, sisters Cecilia and Mary. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society or the War Memorial in Conche.
