GILLINGHAM (GAVIN)
Beatrice
1931-2021
Our family lost a beloved wife, mother and grandmother on February 13, 2021, Beatrice Gillingham (Gavin) at the age of 89. She was born on July 30, 1931 in Bear Cove ,NL. Her parents were George & Matilda Gavin, both deceased. Left with very special memories are her Sister Kathleen (Clarence), brother Steve (Marjorie), Julie (deceased) her husband Dave and Grace (Gar-both deceased) .
She married William and moved to Cormack a short time later. They shared 68 years of marriage and 73 years together making a lifetime of beautiful memories. They were blessed with 6 loving, caring children Boyd (Mary) Beverly (Bernie-deceased) Susan, Brenda (Myles) Sandra (Clyde) and Cindy (Peter)
10 Grandchildren - Chris, Crystal, Stephen, Stephanie, Nancy, Connie, Ray, Stacey, Boyd, and Tyler. 8 great grandchildren. She was loved by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Lillian (Martin deceased), Maisie (Wallace), Ivy (Gordon deceased), Marion (Eric deceased) and Lloyd (Lola), as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Beatrice started work briefly as a housekeeper but quickly realized her most important role was to devote herself to her family and that she did so well. She was very much a homebody who spent most of the time in her kitchen making everyone’s favorite dishes. One thing she didn’t mind leaving home for was her beloved game of 120 at the Seniors Club every Monday night.
In 1992 Beatrice found herself back home in Bear Cove where they bought a cabin. 24 years well spent making many memories with family and cherished friends.
Beatrice was a loving, caring, giving person. She always lived by the saying “give & take”. But she was always more about giving, never asking for much of anything.
The family would like to thank the 3rd floor South of the long term care centre in Corner Brook for the loving, compassionate care of our wife and dear mother.
Due to current restrictions, there will be no visitations or funeral service.
Beatrice will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. We are all left broken hearted, she was our world. But we have a lifetime of memories to cherish forever and the love she gave us that will never fade.
