Despite the power of HOPE in the glorious resurrection, there was and is a deep sense of sadness that Evelyn and I feel on hearing of Marlene's passing. Undoubtedly, she was one of a kind in her comical wit, a good laugh and a good individual that I worked closely with as a member of the missions committee. It's great to see many family members following in her footsteps already in that area. We are praying for God's sustaining grace to keep each of you while you reflect on her life and memories and wait patiently in HOPE!

Like our old friend, Dorinda, I also fight back tears as I send this message. I had no idea Marlene was ill. We'd lost touch over the years but did manage to reconnect a few years ago and communicated via email. Oh my, the laughs we shared, the antics we took part in as teenagers, myself, Dorinda, Jackie Smith and sisters, Sylvia Rowsell, Debbie Manuel. As I attempt to type this message through tears, I can’t help from smiling on the inside because you were my friend. Over the years we lost touch with each other a few times, but we could easily pick up where we left off. As the cliche goes “we laughed and cried together “ but we also got in trouble together, as well..... I remember the time my parents had company at our home, we saw something funny and giggled uncontrollably!! Boy did we ever get a swift “telling off” after the company left! Fast forward to recent years, we had the privilege of reconnecting on Exploits Island where we talked, laughed and reminisced about old times and shared Grandchildren stories! By the way if there are any kissing slices in Heaven, save them for Gerald and I!! You and Glen can have the heel of the bread . Marlene, your families loss is tremendous, hearts are breaking and I am sure questions from little seeking minds are many. Life can be perplexing, especially now. However, we all have the assurance of seeing you again!!!! Now how sweet will that reunion be!! On behalf of Glen and myself, we are sending love to Gerald and your entire family, at this time.
