I was shocked and saddened to hear of Rene's passing away. She was such an important part of my earlier years...she was my other mother and she was always there for me...she helped make my prom dress, she planned my wedding, she made my children's christening gown and bassinet, and did so many other things that are far too numerous to mention. She was my go to person. I remember being a young child and she and Sammy would take me to Tom's store for comic books and cokes and bars. Sammy would get his Westerns, Rene her True Romance and Archie comics and I would get Tom and Jerry.
Rene also made the best date squares, bread (her toutons were so delicious) and of course her chicken patties and angel food cake for her card club girls were renowned .
I spent more time at Rene's house than at home and once her children came...I was their babysitter. She was always giving and kind to me. She was my confidant and the first place I brought a new boyfriend.
I remember camping trips with her and her extended family. They were wonderful times I will always treasure.
I loved her very much and I always had amazing memories of times spent with her.
You, her children and grandchildren were blessed to have her for so long year. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I have very fond memories of Big Rene ( as us nieces and nephews called her) . She made my graduation dress and an hour before I was ready to leave she was doing the alterations while the dress was on me. She said she had to make sure it was perfect for me.
