Obituary of Willis Alexander Reid

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the of late Willis Alexander Reid, “Skipper”,  of Deer Lake announce his peaceful passing on June 1^st, 2022,  just days before his 94^th birthday. Skipper leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories, his children Harry (Mary) Reid, Judy (Neil) Freake, Elaine (Lloyd) Coish, Tony (Joy) Reid, Wayne (Millicent) Reid, Paulette (Barry) Lambert, Colleen (Reggie) Tilley, Craig (Brenda) Reid, Rhonda (Terry) Janes, Kirk (Jeanette) Reid; step-children Norma (Jim) Simms, Dan (Edith) Critch, Roxanne (John) Decker, 29 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren;  brothers Eugene (Florence) Reid, Russell (Lillian) Reid, Winston (Ann) Reid, Willie (Hazel) Reid; special friend and sister-in-law Monie Tulk; special friend and caregiver Annabelle Cross; along with a long list of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Skipper was pre-deceased by his parents Douglas & Alice Reid and wives Joan Reid & Bessie Reid.

Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on Thursday June 2^nd, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. for family. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, June 2^nd, 2022, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Friday June 3^rd  ,2022, 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4^th , 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church in Deer Lake, NL with Reverend Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment to follow at the United Church section of the Deer Lake Inter-denominational Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the St. Paul’s United Church. The family would like to send a special thank-you to Nurses, Doctors and staff of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, ER, Unit 3D, Unit 3C & the Palliative Care Unit; Paramedics; Community Health Home Services; Annabelle, Della and all the home care workers he has had over the years;
