Obituary of Camille Veronica Bruce
Camille Bruce
April 13th, 1927 – June 2nd, 2022
Curling, NL
It is with great sadness that the family of Camille Bruce (nee Roche), announces her sudden passing at the age of 95, early morning on Thursday, June 2nd, 2022. Mom (Nan) was with her daughter Denise when she peacefully passed away at home in Curling.
We are comforted in knowing that she is reunited with her husband of fifty-eight years, Din (Denis) Bruce, her parents Francis and Gertrude, and her siblings, Sister Edward Mary, Rita, James, Mary, Edward, Francis, Theresa, Gertrude and Charles.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Denise, Sheila, David (Marilyn), Leo (Debbie), Anne (Bruce Tibbo) and Dennis (Sandra) and by her surviving sister, Assumpta. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her children, as well as her grandchildren, Kerrie, Robert, Natasha, Alanna, Stephen, Adam, Nicholas, Aileen, Susan, Michael, Matthew, Erin, Daniel, Andrew and Laura and her thirteen great-grandchildren, whom she looked forward to seeing during their visits (in person or through Facetime). She also leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews and had many dear friends and neighbors who checked on her daily and meant so much to her.
Mom was a bright light to anyone who knew her. She made anyone she knew feel loved and would welcome them into her home with a cup of tea and fresh homemade bread. Mom was an avid baker, her bread, rolls and cakes were shared among friends and family. She was crowned the “pickle queen” of Newfoundland and Labrador by CBC, due to her renowned mustard pickles. Despite being 95 years young, Mom still visited her hairdresser twice a week. She also loved playing crib and thoroughly enjoyed defeating anyone brave enough to play against her. Even though she had many health challenges in recent years, it never affected her enthusiasm for life. She was the kindest person we knew and leaves many people who loved her dearly. We will never forget the imprint Mom has left on our hearts. Mom’s life was well lived!
Friends and family are invited to the visitation Sunday, June 5th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Curling. A funeral Mass will be held by Father Jim Robertson on Monday, June 6th at 1030 am at Sacred Heart Church in Curling.
