So sorry to hear of Eugene's passing. He was always such a part of our visits home. We always looked forward to Eugene's stories especially loved the ones about him and our grandfather, he had quite a few. Sending our love and condolences to his family, he will be missed by so many.

We remember how he used to love telling a good story and his love of the Montreal Canadians. There were many times when him and Bobby Bennett, his neighbour and die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf fan, would get into playful arguments throughout the years about their hockey team! Eugene was known by many and will certainly be missed.

I was really shocked to hear of Eugene’s passing. He was always in pretty good shape and healthy. My first memory of Eugene was his Willys Jeep, that I assumed he restored and was quite proud off. Other memories are his trademark coveralls and playing hockey against him in Corner Brook. A quality and character guy. My condolences to his partner and the family. May He Rest In Peace.

Debbie and the Sheppard Families. We were surprised and saddened to learn of Eugene's passing. Like others mentioned I have known Eugene all my life. He was so passionate about all he did and took on especially his preserving the history of Sandy Point and The Bay St. George area and particularly the history of the Newfoundland and Canadian National Railway's history. His Railway Museum is a master piece and hopefully it will be preserved. He will surely be missed by his Family and all who knew him. Our Prayers and Thoughts are with you all at this most difficult time. Sincere Condolences.

Our deepest sympathize are extended to Eugene’s family. I knew Eugene all my life, we grew up together, and even though our
Life journeys took us in different directions, we remained friends and met up many times over the years. There were many times when I came across an item over the years that I thought Eugene would like, and I would drop it off to him, even if he was being elusive and not home at the time.

I am so very sorry to hear of Eugene's passing. He was a Fire Fighter at St. George's District Office when I was with Regional Services. Eugene was a big part of my life growing up in St George's. He was like a brother to us, he fished with my dad & spent many hours just going for trips to Sandy Point on Sundays for family fun. He was certainly the life of any party with his stories , pranks & infectious laugh! So sorry Debbie and Eugene’s family to hear of Eugene’s passing. He was a good buddy and a great man. Not many left like him.
Gene was a die hard Habs fan and I am a life long Bruins fan and we had many a fierce competition around Gerry Northcott’s pool table with a sip of Crown Royal. He will be greatly missed.

To say that our town has lost an ICON , is an understatement . I knew Eugene all my life , he always represented what being a hometown guy was all about. He knew everyone and everyone loved him .
