My mom (Pauline Crossley) worked with Marie at the Bank of Montreal on Caribou Road in Corner Brook in the 80s when they sneakishly planned a girl's trip to Florida for the four of us, myself and Toni-Marie were luckily included. Although I was a young girl at the time, I remember Marie being a free spirit and funny, so she brought much needed joy and laughter into my life as that was the year I was being bullied in school. That first trip to Florida was truly a highlight of my life and I often speak of it because I have vivid fond memonies - like how Marie introduced me to the Twix bar and how it is still my guilty pleasure. I also remember Marie and mom getting upset with Toni-Marie and myself for going down the beach a little too far, apparently chasing boys. Then there's that one day Marie spent too much time in the sun enjoying a cocktail or two and, despite mom's repeated warnings about sunburn, she WAS feeling the pain later that night. That's who Marie was to me - fun, kind, and light-hearted, but best of all, a caring mom. My deepest, heartfelt condolences to Tony, Todd, Toni-marie and families and to everyone who loved Marie. She truly was a special person who left this world a better place. Grief is so very difficult and it brings so much sadness. I wish you a peaceful journey as you navigate through this next phase of your life.
