To Ilene’s Family,
Your heart’s must be broken to have to say good-bye to Ilene. Having worked with and known her since the 70’s, she always gave of her time, energy, skills and kindness to those she cared for and to those she worked with. Always willing to go above and beyond expectations to do or say something to make either a co-worker or someone in her care feel special and valued.
I feel blessed to have known her and the fond memories of both work and social time together.

Our thoughts are with the families of Ilene. I’ve heard Mom speak of her with the utmost respect quite often when i was growing up. They worked together at the hospital for many years. Needless to say, she was quite upset when she heard of Ilene’s passing. You are remembered in our thoughts and prayers.

Bill, Gordon, George, Shaunda and Families; and Extended Family
I was so sorry to hear of Ilene’s passing. I worked with Ilene for many years at the Health Centre and she was not only a compassionate co-worker but a generous friend as well. She loved her work and it showed in how she treated her patients with the utmost care, respect and compassion. The Residents of this area were definitely the losers when Ilene retired from her work at the Hospital.
She loved her family and and it showed in how she talked about them. She was also generous in helping others and supporting whatever was going on in the community. She enjoyed doing up jams, jellies and other preserves (and we were among those who were lucky enough to benefit from some of those tasty delights).
Even tho I haven’t seen her much in the past few years, I will certainly miss her and our wonderful chats when we did meet.
She was so proud of you, her family, so I hope that the wonderful memories you have of her will somehow help you through the difficult days ahead.

I will always remember Ilene so fondly and lovingly. She had such a gentle, beautiful way of making everyone around her feel special and always had a kind word for all. I was blessed to have this lovely lady as a next door neighbour while growing up and had many chats and visits with her over the years. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her. Sending sincere condolences and love to Bill, Gordon, George, Shaunda and the many family members who mourn her passing. I was 11 years old when I was blessed with two of the best Grandparents I could of wished for. From day one I always felt like I was born into the family. I was treated the same as the rest. Nan was so kind hearted, sweet, and gentle soul, who would do anything she could to help anyone.
My Daughter, Ava, spent many nights out for sleepovers with her Nanny & Poppy, it was her favorite place to go for cuddles, and making cookies.
Our Nan is missed so much. Our hearts are broken!

Our first child had severe asthma when she was a baby. We spent many nights at the old Port Saunders Hospital where Nurse Lowe worked. She would do her rounds and complete her work, then return to our room and take my baby and rock her so I could shower and eat.
She was a great Nurse and kind person. When the new hospital opened I had the pleasure to work with her and witness the love she had for her work and patients.
Nurse Lowe you were loved by many,
and you will be missed by many.

“Once family always family “ to Aunt Ilene. My boys remember her and uncle Bill opening their home to all of us when we ventured to Newfoundland. There were unlimited freshly baked cookies every day we were there. She and Bill were our taxi, tour guides and loaned us the car to allow further exploration. I will remember the catch up phone call this harvest season when she kept me company during a parts run for the combine. She kept interest in what we were up to and made me feel welcome all these years. I will miss her generous spirit. Sincere sympathies to Bill and family.

A: Ilene was the best mother in law you could ask for. Always smiling, full of wisdom, just a loving lady to everyone. Be it friend or family.

Ilene was a wonderful person and nurse. When one of my children was sick and I stayed all night with him in the hospital here, Ilene came and told me to lie down on one of the patient beds. That was above and beyond her duties and spoke volumes about her great kindness. Ever remembered as a happy, loving and very kind person. What more is better in life?
