Obituary of Katherine Ann Colbourne (CARD OF THANKS)
Thank you
The family of the late Katherine “Kit” Colbourne (nee O’Brien) wish to thank her friends and relatives who provided comfort and support to the family following her passing.
The family recognizes the generosity of so many who made gifts in Katherine’s name to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation and for the beautiful flower arrangements that were received during our time of grief. The delivery of food was deeply appreciated, and the thoughtful messages sharing memories and condolences through cards and online tributes provided us with comfort.
The family is grateful for the care provided to our mother by Dr. Robert O’Driscoll and to the staff of Corner Brook Long Term care (3 North). Many thanks to Father Jim Roberston and the servers and choir of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Curling for a meaningful and fitting funeral mass. Finally, the family wishes to thank Mindy Holloway and Keith Fillatre of Fillatre’s Funeral Home for their professional and supportive assistance during such a difficult time.

1931 - 2023
On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, Katherine (Kit) peacefully left this world to rejoin the love of her life, Roger, whom she married in 1952 and who predeceased her in 2011. Kit leaves to mourn her 8 children Peter, Terry, Brian (Karen), John, Mary (Jim), Anne Marie (Ian), Carolyn, and Kevin (Thomas). Cherished grandchildren Justin, Jason, Michael, Taylor, Alex, Jessica, Stephanie, Samantha, Katie, Andrew and Zachery, and so many loved great-grandchildren. Kit also leaves to mourn her sister Lorraine Coleman and a large group of relatives and friends. Born in 1931 to Peter and Philomena O’Brien in Curling East, Kit was the youngest of a large family. Predeceased by brothers Stan, Jack, Tom, Ron, Harold and Jim; sisters Annie Gillis, Bridget (Bea) Leitch and Mary O’Brien. Kit was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who also loved her four-legged grandchildren. She had a sharp wit and great sense of humour and was always up on current events thanks to Anderson Cooper. Kit was also adventurous. Even in her later years, she was always up for travel, often to visit her children and go on shopping trips. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue, on Friday, January 20, 2023 between 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Christian burial mass will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 469 Curling Street at 10:30 am Father Jim Robertson. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Robert O’Driscoll and the staff of Corner Brook Long Term Care (3 North). The family is also eternally grateful for the special care provided to mom by our sister, Carolyn. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation. The family guest book may be signed through www.fillatre.ca.
