Gordon Edward Ingram

August 27, 1951 - January 21, 2023

Gordon Edward Ingram, devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away at the Calder Healthcare Centre in Burgeo, NL, on January 21, 2023 at the age of 71.

Left to mourn with beautiful memories are his wife and best friend of 50 years Sheila, daughter Kerry Lynn (Dale), son Ryan (Katherine), and his precious and proud grandchildren Mathieu, Lily, Brooke, Ava, and Mya.

Gord will be forever missed by his sisters Carrie (Walt), Stella (Alain), Pam (Glenn), brothers Allister (Marie), Sidney (Diane) and Brian (Susan), brothers-in-law Glenn (Melita), Calvin (Angela), sisters-in-law Gloria (Ralph), Joan (Gilbert), Dora (Julius) and Angela (Dan), his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

With many happy memories, Gord leaves behind a large circle of devoted friends.

Gord was a proud and committed member of the Burgeo Lions Club for 49 years. He volunteered with the Burgeo Town Council, Burgeo Fire Department, and Sand and Sea Festival. As an outstanding volunteer, Gord never failed to take the lead to organize an event to help someone in need or promote his beautiful hometown.  As a business leader, Gord owned and operated the Foodland store in Burgeo and cultivated many lasting friendships within the TRA, Foodland and Sobeys families. He shared his love of business as a member of the Community Business Development Corporation (Long Range).  Gord could find a familiar face wherever he went and made people feel he had all the time in the world to talk.  His family joked about how they couldn’t go anywhere without him stopping to talk to someone he knew. Gord spent many years with Sheila creating their ‘happy place’ in Peter Strides. The beautiful haven they grew from a sand pit, and the friends they enjoyed it with, brought many beautiful memories.  He loved making wood crafts and his creativity could find the possibilities in any piece of wood. Most of all, Gord was so very proud of his family and considered this his greatest legacy. He was their biggest cheerleader and took every opportunity to tell others how proud he was of them.

Gord is predeceased by his parents George and Gladys Ingram, brother Marvin, parents-in-law, George K and Jessie Skinner, brothers-in-law Don and Junior K, sister-in-law Wanda, and nephews Andy and Robbie.

Gord’s family express profound gratitude to Dr. Jamie Tibbo, Nurse Practitioner Teri-Lynn Parrell, Dr. Craig Pochini and the team of caregivers of 4 East of St. Clare’s, Dr. David Jones at the Health Sciences Centre and the staff of the Burgeo Calder Health Care Centre for their care and comfort. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to everyone who helped to bring Gord home, to Burgeo, where he could spend his final days. Thank you to the many members of the health care team who provided care to Gord during his cancer journey.
