It is with great sadness that the family of the late Baxter Mitchelmore announce his passing on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the Western Long Term Care Palliative Care unit at the age of 73 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 54 years: Melinda Mitchelmore; children: Ervin Mitchelmore, Kathy Park (Dean), Diana Mitchelmore (Daniel Hubert), Tara Mitchelmore; grandchildren: William, Kayla (Brandon), Quinn (Amber), Danica, Mathieu, Jasmine, André, Melody, Olivia, Sophie, Chloe, Emily; great-grandchildren: Briar-Rose and Kalliana; mother-in-law: Mary Elliott; sisters: Sybil Piercey (Lloyd), Inga Coombs; brothers: Primus (Maysie) and Harvey (Marilyn), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large circle of friends.

He was predeceased by his parents: Leander and Minnie; brothers: Howard and Truman; sisters: Marona and Shirley, and his father-in-law: George Elliott.

Baxter was a fun-loving, easy-going friend to all. He loved his family and everything he did was with them in mind. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the cabin and made sure everything was in working order for their stay. He would freely give up his time to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, including planning, renovating, building, and giving business or personal advice. He was a perfectionist at work and a formidable competitor in play and sport; he played to win and took defeat as a challenge to improve. He will always be the first person we’ll think to turn to as he was a part of every aspect of our lives. He will surely be missed by all who knew him.

Visitations will be held on Saturday, February 11^th, from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 12^th, at 2:00pm at St. Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church, 5 Park Drive, with Rev. Mickton Phiri officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
