Monty Way

December 10, 1970 – February 28, 2023

Corner Brook, NL

The world lost one of the good ones, with the passing of Monty Way on February 28,2023, at the age of 52.

To know him was to love him. Monty had a great, unique sense of humour and always loved to have a good laugh. “Don’t take life too seriously” were words that he lived by. A conversation with Monty would always leave you with a belly laugh and a smile on your face.

He lived life for his girls, and was always teaching his daughters life skills.

Monty relished the outdoors, and he loved heading in the woods on his side by side for a fire and a boil up. He was often found out in his shed dreaming up his next big project that he wouldn’t finish. Monty loved wood. There was nothing like a good piece of birch!

Food was one of his many joys in life. From getting a great deal on a turkey, to canning and preserving enough food for a zombie apocalypse. He loved a good drink of Jack Daniels, Hickory Sticks, and canned milk on cake.

The family would like to thank the chemo ward in Corner Brook for their compassionate care over the last number of years.“ His girls” became part of our extended family. To all of the doctors, nurses and health care workers who played a very important part of his journey. We will be forever grateful.

Monty is survived by his wife, Lynn; daughters Jasmine and Jade; parents Clyde and Maybelle; brother Marvin (Diane) and sister Kim; mother in law Dorothy Companion, brother in law Jeff Companion, (Waverly), nieces Rachel Way and Jessica Companion (Adam), a very special member of the family, Ivy Fudge, and the dog he never asked for, Bentley. He was predeceased by his father in law, Ross Companion; and brother in law, Marcel Boulet.

At Monty’s request, visitation with sandwiches will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday, March 2 from the hours of 7-9 p.m. and Friday, March 3 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital or the local Foodbank Network.
