Cyril Lewis Payne
November 5th, 1958 – April 24th, 2023
Halfway Point, NL.
It is with great sadness that the family of Cyril Lewis Payne announce his passing in his 64th year on April 24th at his residence in Halfway Point, surrounded by his two girls. Cyril loved being outdoors throughout his life, be it either on the water working as a fisherman, or in the woods hunting, sawing logs or berry picking with family and friends. He had such a warm and kind personality, was always there to help anyone in need. And even though he said he was shy, Cyril would strike up a conversation with anyone, telling at least a story or two in the process. He is leaving to mourn his wife and fishing buddy of 37 years, Catherine (Sis) Payne, daughter and coffee companion Candice Payne, brother Chris Payne, sister-in-law Madonna Payne, nephew Cordell (Megan) Payne, brother-in-law and best friend David (Crock) Davis, special cousin Lewis (Ramona) Payne and special aunt Dulcie (Frank) Sheppard, as well as many more family and friends.
Cyril was predeceased by his parents Ulric and Edna Payne, in-laws Horace and Evelyn Davis, aunts Jenny Wells, Judy Payne and Dinah Brake, uncles John Payne, George Stagg, Dave Payne and Clyde Hillier, and his cousin Rodney Wells.
Keeping with Cyril’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be spread at a future date. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the chemotherapy, radiology, intensive care and emergency room departments, as well as the palliative care program of Western Memorial Regional Hospital for the fantastic care you have provided in recent months. You are all angels on earth and made such a positive impact on our family.
