To Hercelia, Faye, George, Todd, Joy, William, Thomas, Daniel, Lori Lee and all Hubert’s family. Please accept our condolences on Hubert’s passing. Hubert was a great man, he was funloving and caring to everyone around him.
My first time meeting Hubert and Hercelia was when George and Faye got married. Myself and Hubert danced up a storm. He was a really good dancer, great at the jive. That started a friendship. Myself and Reg visited with them in their home in Saint Paul’s River as well as out on the Island (outside they would call it). Hubert would always take you around to the islands and stop for a boil up with his canned lobster or jarred salmon and Hercelia’s homemade bread . Great memories for sure. I remember one October being over in Saint Paul’s and going up the river to check on the cabin. Myself and Faye all bundled up and Hubert sitting up proud as a peacock in the boat that he built, as Todd manoeuvred it up the river.
One of my fondest memories is the time we were picking Hubert and Hercelia up in Deer Lake to visit George and Faye in NS. I shagged up our reservations and booked the wrong day so we ended up staying at the Port Aux Basque Hotel for a night in a double room. As we were going to bed Hubert started to sing to Hercelia the song recorded by Toby Keith’s “I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was“. Every time I thinks of that song I laugh and think of Hubert. Our last visit with Hubert and Hercelia was 2 years ago. We delivered a car and stayed for 4 days. It was a great visit once again. Hubert, you were one of the great ones and you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. I will close out with the lyrics from another great song “Go rest high on that mountain. Son your work on earth is done” ❤️ RIP.
Love Bride & Reg Norman
