So very sorry to hear of Gerald’s passing. I have very fond memories of him for a very long time. As a child he was always so friendly to us when we would come to your house. Loved our little chats when you guys would come to Halifax for a visit. Knowing he isn’t suffering anymore won’t take away your grief but hopefully it will help to heal your heart. To Rhoda, Denise, Daphne and families: I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Gerald “Mr Andrews”. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy during this difficult time.
Gerald was an exceptional person, and this presence touched the lives of so many. His kindness, warmth, compassion, and strength will always be remembered, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him as I did since you moved to Kawaja Dr when I was 6 or 7 years old. Oh and patience, he had that in abundance!
I understand that no words can fully alleviate the pain of Gerald’s passing,, but please know that you are not alone. Lean on your friends, family, and loved ones for support, and may the cherished memories you shared provide you with comfort and strength in the days ahead.

My fondest memory of Gerald was Cannon’s first Christmas we spent together at Greg and Kristen’s home. As was our tradition, I read the Christmas story and prayed before opening our gifts. I read the story however I requested for Gerald to lead us that morning in prayer. Wow! Can that man pray! When he was done the entire family were in tears. Gail and I will always cherish that day. Thank you Gerald for your commitment to God and family. Enter in to your reward.

We were heartbroken to hear of Gerald’s passing. He was such a kind, sweet man who was loved by everyone. We have so many wonderful memories, especially of our trips to Myrtle Beach years ago. We are so thankful to have been friends with him.

We were so saddened to hear of Gerald’s passing. We extend our sincere condolences to you all.
We have so many memories of wonderful and fun times spent together in both Newfoundland and Florida.
Gerald loved to play golf and this is the season when we would sometimes meet half way and play at the Grand Falls golf course.
Now he has “finished the course and kept faith: Henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give him at that day”. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8

To Rhoda & Family:
I've always held Bro. Gerald with the highest respect and integrity as a Godly man. His Christianity was a shining light for everyone at Westside Tabernacle. Rhoda, you are also held with the same admiration in my heart.
It is sad that Gerald had to leave his earthly body, but I am confident that He is happy to be in the presence of the Lord whom he loved and served. Westside lost a committed spiritual brother and beautiful soul. You will be missed deeply by everyone who loved and adored you.

Rhoda and Family,
Words cannot express my sorrow on the passing of, Gerald, a devoted, Christian, husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many.
When I think of Gerald I will always remember a man who loved the Lord with every ounce of his being. Brother Gerald lived the Christian life in word, deed and in his worship to Christ. Truly a man full of the Holy Spirit. I remember how he encouraged the very young by being a VBS crew leader, to supporting and praying for church leadership and in my time as member of the Board of Deacons. His love, compassion, enthusiasm, encouragement and enormous faith is something we should all aspire too.
I remember an evening in February 2007. I was elected to the church board. Gerald came over to me and shook my hand, hugged me and conveyed how proud he was. I was honored to serve a year with him as fellow board member. Gerald’s hugs, handshakes and encouraging words were vast and sincere to so many lives.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

Gerald was one of the most thoroughly decent and kind human beings I ever met. I was privileged to call him my friend. We golfed together for years, drank coffee together during the off season.

I think of our own relationship over the years and can truly say that he was a great encourager, and a positive influence to myself, as well as many others.
We are truly sorry for your loss and offer prayers for all during this difficult time. May the peace of God and comfort of the Holy Spirit be your portion in these coming days.
Gerald's lifelong testimony of faithfulness, offering hope, and dispensing love will last into eternity. We can never fully understand these dark stages of life, but we rely on a faithful God to bear up the broken-hearted. We look forward to a New Day when faith will be made sight, we will enter the new things that God has in store for all, and we shall meet again.
I'm reminded of Eugene Peterson's Bible version, The Message, as he offers this from I Corinthians 13:
"We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us.
"But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love."

We received the news of Gerald's passing with great sadness. The passing of a family member not only effects each family member, but Gerald's passing is a great loss to the fellowship, the church that Gerald was such an integral part of at Westside. The church cannot afford to lose people like Gerald with his deep devotion, commitment and spiritual strength. Gerald and yes Rhoda along with others were great supporters and involved in the mission's trips to Guatemala. What I always appreciated about Gerald was his sensitivity to the moving of the Holy Spirit in worship times. Gerald gave great leadership in many capacities in Westside. May his legacy continue.
The Blessed Hope gives us a truth that we can live by. There definitely will be a reuniting when Jesus comes. We sorrow, yes, but not as those with no hope. We shall see Jesus and be with the Lord together.
Praying the grace and comfort of the Holy Spirit and consolations of the Scriptures will be your portion.
