Obituary of Gerald Frederick Andrews

Gerald Frederick John Andrews passed away peacefully on September 1st, 2023 at the age of 77.  Gerald was born in Grand Falls to Neta (Knight) and Reginald Andrews on May 10, 1946.  Dad started his work life as a school teacher, then went on to work at Browning Harvey, before his 38 year career at Bowaters/Kruger.  He happily retired in 2004 to begin his next phase of life on the golf course.

Dad’s first love was Rhoda and he was happiest doing any and all things with his family.  In addition to his passion for golf, he was a great lover of many sports with his favorite sporting teams being the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Blue Jays.  He was a devoted parishioner at Westside Tabernacle.  He loved the outdoors; biking, cross country skiing, berry picking, and, perhaps his absolute favorite, spending countless hours chopping wood.

He is predeceased by his parents Neta and Reginald Andrews, older sister Betty Hoyles, in-laws Flora and Leslie Caines, and great grandchild Luca Keats.  He leaves to grieve; his wife of 57 years, Rhoda (Caines), daughters Denise (son in-law Glen Dormody) and Daphne (son-in-law Scott Burden), grandchildren Kayla, Kristen (Greg), Andrew, Matthew, Camryn, great-grandchild Cannon, and siblings Reginald, Harold, Maxwell, and Flora, as well as a large circle of extended family and dear friends.

Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Mark’s Ave, on Sunday, September 3^rd at 2-3pm and 7-8pm.  Funeral service will be held at Westside Tabernacle, Elizabeth St. on Monday, September 4^th at 2pm.
