Obituary of Ward Thomas Pye

Please share a memory of Ward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ward Thomas Pye announce his passing on September 5th, 2023, at his home in Lodge Bay at the age of 79 years.

Ward was born and raised in the beautiful Big Land. He was a fisherman most of his life and enjoyed doing a host of other things including gardening, wood working and berry picking. He was a hard worker, a pillar in his community and a friend to all. He loved to be around people, enjoyed a good laugh, always had a joke or story to share and always welcomed a good game of cards. Ward’s first love was his wife Verna, and he was happiest doing anything and all things with his family.

Ward leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 58 years, Verna (Stone), son Brent, daughters Juanita Rumbolt (Harvey), Carol Nadeau (Rod), Myra Poole (Claude). Grandchildren Alisha Russell (Shane), Allison Rumbolt, Stephanie Nadeau, Julien Nadeau (Hayley), Benjamin Poole (Raquel), Billy Nadeau and Jaxon Pye, great grandchildren Isaac Russell and Simon Russell, siblings Clara Rumbolt, Stewart (Laura), Guy (Nora), Lloyd (Ena), Roy (Nancy), Alvin, and Valerie Russell. He also leaves behind a family of fur babies that he spoiled and loved dearly.

Ward was predeceased by his parents Frank and Violet Pye, In-laws Alfred and Jessie Stone, brothers in law Raymond Rumbolt and Redgeway Russell.

A celebration of life will be taking place on Friday, September 8th, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Lodge Bay with Reverend Jennifer Rumbolt officiating. Interment to follow at a later date, in keeping with Ward’s wishes for cremation.

A beautiful life has come to an end, he died as he lived, everyone’s friend.
In our hearts a memory will always be kept, of one we loved, and will never forget.
