Obituary of Damon Etheridge

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Damon Etheridge announce his unexpected passing on September 25^th, 2023, at the young age of 36 years.   While returning home from fishing, a tragedy at sea claimed his life along with two of his crew mates.

The void this has left in the lives of those who knew and loved him is immeasurable.  Leaving to mourn, with fond and loving memories are:  the love of his life and fiancé, Angie; his three beautiful children:  Kelsey, Austin and Karson; his parents:  Ivan and Evie; his grandmother:  Pauline; his in-laws: Murdock and Réjeanne; his nephew, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large circle of family and friends.

Damon is predeceased by his beloved brother, Jordan, and his grandparents Hollis Etheridge, Tena (Bell) Etheridge and Daniel Fequet.

Among the many wonderful things Damon will be remembered for is the kindness and generosity he showed to everyone. He was always there to help others, always lending a hand or offering assistance to anyone in need.  Early in life, he learned from his Dad a love for the great outdoors, including snowmobile and ATV rides with family and friends.  He also loved hunting and being on the water, where he felt privileged to pursue his livelihood as a fisherman.  As part of his hobbies, he always had various renovation projects on the go with his Mom, a testament to his many talents.  Damon was also known for his love of hockey and the friendships he made both on and off the ice.  He was a great cook, a very hard worker, the one who feared nothing and the most incredible person with a heart of gold. 

But of all his passions in this world, nothing ranked above the love for his amazing children, his fiancé and his family.  He was the very best Dad, one who spent hours upon hours taking them on 4-wheeler rides, out in boat, back and forth to hockey practices, and enjoying time at the cabin in Bradore.  Everything was done together as a family.  For so many reasons, Damon will forever be their hero and their inspiration to continue seeing good in this world.  With a love that extends beyond time, he will always be remembered for the happiness he has brought into the lives of others.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to family and friends, both near and far, for the outpouring of love and support.  Thank you to all of those who were part of the Search and Rescue Teams, along with the incredible staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, for all they did to help at a most difficult time.  Our sincere condolences to the other families affected by this tragedy – our hearts are with you all.

To honour the lives lost and their final journey home, a joint funeral will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023 from Notre Dame de Lourdes at 1:00 pm
